(1)If a person in lawful custody escapes or is rescued, the person from whose custody he or she escaped or was rescued, or any police officer, may immediately pursue and arrest him or her for the purpose of returning him or her to the place where he or she was in lawful custody.

(2)Sections 77 and 82 apply to any arrest under subsection (1) even if the person making the arrest is not acting under an arrest warrant and is not a police officer having authority to arrest.
