(1)District Courts shall²⁰²¹ have jurisdiction and power to try any offence for which the maximum term of imprisonment provided by law does not exceed 10 years or which is punishable with a fine only²⁰¹⁸a fine-only offence²⁰¹⁸.

(2)Every District Court shall have²⁰²¹has²⁰²¹ in the exercise of its jurisdiction all the powers of a Magistrate’s Court.
